Reliable, accurate, cost-saving

RFID in logistics

RFID technology (Radio-Frequency Identification) enhances and automates data collection, which significantly improves visibility and efficiency in supply chains and in internal asset management within organisations.

RFID readers and tags provide many benefits over e.g. handheld barcode scanners. Automated RFID identification solutions with longer reading distances save time and manual work. RFID readers and transponders are very robust and withstand various harsh environments.

Idesco’s products are widely used in different logistics and asset management applications around the world.

Accurate and reliable

How to use RFID in logistics?

  • Unlike barcode readers, RFID readers can read a number of products in seconds without line of sight. This streamlines your storage management and improves real time visibility to your inventory balance.
  • Long range UHF readers on gates or transit lines can manage and keep track of your transit flow – entrance and exit. This provides visibility and accuracy to your assets and their location at a certain time, and also prevents unauthorized vehicles entering your area.

  • RFID tags are an effective method to protect product authenticity and protect brand integrity. Unique chips in RFID tags are more difficult, and depending on the technology, even impossible to clone, unlike traditional barcodes that are very easy to copy.

  • RFID helps to follow the use of tools, devices and equipment. Required personal authentication with an RFID tag controls who uses equipment, and ensures that only authorized persons can access certain devices. The same applies to hospital pharmacies; only authorized nurses may access the medical storage. Additionally, the hospital can track the visits to the storage afterwards.
  • A device’s maintenance history can be followed accurately with RFID. With RFID tags, and readers with read and write capability, the maintenance history can be recorded, monitored and kept available with the device itself.

  • Marking pallets and containers with RFID tags helps their owners to follow their movement and returns.
