Who holds your security keys?

Readers and transponders programmed with mutual authentication keys are integral to access control systems using DESFire technology.

Readers and transponders programmed with mutual authentication keys are integral to access control systems using DESFire technology. These keys, 128-bit AES or TDES ciphers, are what protect your transponders’ data from being copied or hacked, in addition to securing their transactions with readers. If security at your site or your customer’s site is becoming a concern, you should consider migrating to DESFire.

When doing so, some integrators prefer programming DESFire transponders and readers for their customers’ sites themselves and managing all key documentation. Others prefer outsourcing coding and documentation to minimize resourcing overhead. Idesco offers its Security Key Management service for not only programming readers and transponders before shipping directly to an end-users’ site. We also assume responsibility for documenting and managing the security keys of readers and transponders according to accepted information security practices. Alternatively, we can provide expert security key management training if you prefer keeping DESFire keys and coding in-house.
