Embed 8 CD 2.0 in your device
The 8 CD 2.0 Compact module lets you embed DESFire’s utmost security capability into your own device. The module’s compact dimension lets you integrate it and its flexible features in a wide range of products and RFID applications.
Finnish Megaflex embedded 8 CD 2.0 Compact modules in their own access control readers they have deployed at construction sites. Sales Director Juha Laakkonen confirmed the 8 CD 2.0 Compact has proven a good solution: the module is smaller than a normal reader and ideal such deployments.
Megaflex has subsequently committed to integrate the 8 CD 2.0 Compact modules into their new Officeflow solution. Officeflow will deploy RFID to harvest workspace and desk utilization data of employees who register their presence with tag transactions when they begin work. Juha Laakkonen explains that modern workspaces have grown more flexible and multi-functional in response to employees whose tasking has become more diverse – they are assigned permanent work desks less often. Instead, desks and workspaces vary according to task. RFID helps optimize workspace design by harvesting data on the use of desks and workspaces.
Juha Laakkonen envisions other possibilities. “This could also enhance well-being at work via workplace ergonomics. If an employee has been sitting too long at one position, the system could send a notification to their cell phone and ask them to lift up their adjustable electric desk and stand up for a while”, Laakkonen suggests.
How does RFID actually work, and what kind of features do transponders require to make it work? This article answers these questions by focusing on RFID’s transponders and their identification capability. If you are a system integrator, your own customers might find the points covered in this discussion helpful.
