Were you aware that metal surfaces behind an RFID reader can degrade its performance? At very close distances, a metal surface reflects a reader’s signal in ways that destructively interfere with and diminish its interrogation range. A similar problem can occur when two RFID readers are installed on opposing sides of the same wall. Idesco’s installation and shield plates were specifically designed to help you mitigate these issues when you install our readers.
Idesco’s metal shield plates are installed directly beneath readers deployed on opposing sides of a wall, so that each reader is shielded from the ‘back flux’ of the others’ transmission field – an interference capable of degrading the performance and range of both.
Conversely, Idesco’s plastic Installation plates let you install on a metal surface by lifting your reader far enough away from the electromagnetic eddy waves the metal reflects in response to the reader’s interrogation field. Installation Plates serve yet another valuable function: they conveniently cover any wall holes left behind by a previous device.
Idesco’s installation and shield plates come in different sizes, to accommodate all Idesco Quattro-, Slim and Basic housings.
