Updated Cardea Coder

A new version of Cardea Coder, 1.1.5, is now available. With the latest update, you can use Cardea Coder to encode your own MIFARE DESFire cards and credentials.

Encoding credentials in-house can be a good choice when you want to:

  • Get new access cards ready faster.
  • Keep greater control of your security keys.
  • Reduce reliance on a single supplier.
  • Stay flexible when your access control system changes.

Cardea Coder can also be used to create configuration files for reader updates.

Cardea Coder is designed for organisations that want to manage their security keys and reader updates more independently. This can be particularly useful for large hospitals, industrial sites and other organisations where access control systems need to evolve over many years and suppliers or technologies may change over time.

Not every organisation needs to manage these tasks in-house. If you prefer to receive your readers and credentials ready to use, Idesco can take care of the programming and security key management for you. Our security key management service is covered by our ISO 27001-certified information security management system.

Either way, you remain in control of your security keys. They belong to you, and you can choose to transfer them to another supplier if needed.

More organisations are moving to MIFARE DESFire to improve security and gain greater control over their credentials and security keys. But choosing MIFARE DESFire alone does not necessarily make an access control system supplier-independent.

That is why it is important to understand who owns and controls the security keys before choosing a supplier.
