Idesco has launched a new 8 CD 2.0 DESFire reader that supports mobile device transactions. In addition to reading conventional transponders, it reads access credentials you can store in your smartphone, then forwards them to the reader host for authentication. You only need your site manager to issue you mobile credentials you install in your device and then install Idesco’s BLE application (free and available from Google Play).
Obviously, access control via mobile devices is positioned to become an increasingly popular convenience. However, Idesco has also worked hard to ensure it will be secure, user-friendly and easily-managed. That is why our new 8 CD 2.0 reader was designed with both BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and NFC (Near Field Communication) mobile transaction abilities. The mobile app was designed to work seamlessly with smartphones to robustly secure their storage of access credentials. Security managers are able to administer users’ temporary, time-scheduled access privileges conveniently from the cloud. Further, users’ mobile transactions will remain just as secure as with traditional transponders. Finally, site managers can still secure users’ mobile transactions with personal pin codes at the reader if needed.
Best of all, Idesco’s new BLE/NFC-supporting DESFire reader lets site managers freely choose when is the best time to implement mobile access. This is possible because the reader is retains its full array of traditional DESFire and Idesco features: from IP67 protection and IK impact resistant classes to support for all MIFARE® transponders from Classic UID to DESFire sectors – along with its mobile transaction capability. Re-configuring for mobile transactions later is easy, with no uninstallation our even powering down required.
