Idesco Cardea is the first OSDPv2 verified Transparent Mode reader ever

Cardea is the first OSDP reader verified for Transparent Mode

Selected Cardea reader models have now received Security Industry Association (SIA) verification for OSDP compliance. The verification covers all Cardea keypad models as well as the mobile-compatible Cardea and Cardea W models.

Even more notably, Cardea products are the first OSDPv2 verified readers to receive XRD/XRW (Transparent Mode) Profile Certification in addition to PD Secure certification by SIA.

What does Transparent Mode mean?

In a traditional access control setup, some credential processing takes place inside the reader itself. With OSDPv2 Transparent Mode, the reader takes on a different role. Instead of processing credential data inside the reader, it securely passes encrypted credential information directly to the access control system, where authentication and access decisions are made. The sensitive data and security logic remain in the system, not in the reader.

This approach reduces the amount of sensitive processing performed at the door, minimizes the attack surface of the reader and supports high-security access control architectures where cybersecurity is a key requirement.

Combined with MIFARE DESFire, OSDPv2 Secure Channel and customer-owned security keys, Cardea helps organizations build secure, open and future-ready access control systems without vendor lock-in.
