Tiia is focused on quality

Part of our readers are manufactured at Idesco headquarters in Oulu. One of our assembly team’s key fabricators, helping to build our products, is Tiia Pirkola-Ilmarinen. Building readers requires numerous steps, from collecting parts, soldering, assembly, epoxy-potting all the way down to testing. Once readers are completed they leave Tiia’s desk for packing in their own box, ready for shipping to you, our customers. “To me, it is very important to finish every reader with perfection. High quality to me means that our products work as they should and make our customers happy”, she explains.

Tiia explains that Idesco’s assembly work demands great versatility. As new products appear it necessitates an ongoing daily learning of new tasks. Since we make several products ourselves, it requires the entire assembly team to be familiar with every product and their assembly processes. “That is why this work is always interesting, although sometimes we can be a bit busy. However, if a stretch of our schedule tightens, the entire team adapts to it. When larger manufacturing batches come, we divide the work and make the deadline together”, Tiia says. “When our team finishes a big batch of readers and sent it out the door on time, it feels good being able to say at the end of the day: we did it together”, she smiles.

Tiia’s family includes her husband and two cats. At home, she often has a decoration or crafting project in progress. She also admits to having a bit of a green thumb. In summertime especially, Tiia enjoys spending time at her cottage.
